Millfield Wetlands

Ater the drought the grass seeds germinated in the wetland bed and when we had weeks of rain the grasses continued to grow and are seen above the water level. The swans and other birds have returned.

Millfield Wetlands

The wetlands have dried up due to the drought. The bird life has almost disappeared.

After a few weeks of heavy rain the wetlands have got water and a lot of the bird life has returned.

Millfield Mist

Every morning when I wake up I look out of my window to see what nature has to offer . I never tire of the view even when the wetlands are green with grass instead of water.

Millfield Sky-2

The fires lasted for quite a while and our sky was red and smokey for weeks. Was scary.

Millfield Sky

Even though the bush fires were not near Millfield we still had the red glow in the sky. The nearest fires were at Musselbrook,  Heatherbrae and The Blue Mountains. It was an eerie feeling each day for several weeks looking at the glow in the sky and the dark clouds.

Millfield

Millfield is an interesting town with so much history. I went for a walk today and passed the Rising Sun Inn that is now a museum. Unfortunately it wasn't open. I love the Wisteria hanging from the fence of the Inn.

Millfield

I went for a drive into the hills and this is what I saw from different vantage points. I drove through Millfield and turned left when I went over the bridge. I drove past the cemetery and into the hills. I could see as far as Ellalong and Millfield. The road is gravel but an easy ride. There were signs saying to look out for logging trucks.

Millfield Frost

Looking across from my house to the paddocks. it was white as we had a bad frost.

In all directions it was white.

Millfield Mornings

Some mornings you can see the hills and the paddocks.

Other mornings the hills are hidden.

One never knows what is outside until one looks and discovers what the weather has brought.

From Newcastle to Sydney to Millfield

After spending 30 years in Warner's Bay then 30 years in Sydney I have retired to an acre at Millfield in the Hunter Valley. To me a little piece of Heaven. There is so much to see and experience here and by viewing my blog you will get to see what is on offer around the place.
This is the view from my front door and the weather changes what I see daily.
