Millfield is an interesting town with so much history. I went for a walk today and passed the Rising Sun Inn that is now a museum. Unfortunately it wasn't open. I love the Wisteria hanging from the fence of the Inn.

Millfield

I went for a drive into the hills and this is what I saw from different vantage points. I drove through Millfield and turned left when I went over the bridge. I drove past the cemetery and into the hills. I could see as far as Ellalong and Millfield. The road is gravel but an easy ride. There were signs saying to look out for logging trucks.

Allandale

Allandale is on the way to Rutherford and about 40 minutes drive from Millfield. The countryside is lovely around here.

Kitchener Poppet Head in Heritage Park

I have wanted to see this structure up close for a long time. I often drive past it. I went to the Heritage Park in Kitchener today and took all these photos. It is an amazing structure. There is a 1.2km walk around the lake at the park which I will do when I have somebody with me as it is in bushland.
Poppet heads sit over mine shafts and are used to winch ore such as coal buckets from below.
I love the rustic look.]

Kitchener is a small town in the City of Cessnock. It is located 5 kilometres south of the town of Cessnock.

I went for a drive to Stockton yesterday with Margaret and Russell from  England. It was a beautiful day, a bit windy but glorious weather. The water was gleaming and the sky was clear. We had hot chips and coffee at the cafe at the beach. My father's family were from Stockton/Fullerton Cove. So a lot of family history in the area.

Warner's Bay

Warner's Bay Foreshore
This is where I grew up. I have also spread my parent's ashes in the lake. My father taught me to swim in this lake. It was a big thing in my young days to meet friends down there at the lake. I had many a good time down there throughout summer. The foreshore has been done up now and there are lots of cafes and restaurants in the shopping area now.
